Bowls South Africa and Warwick Private Wealth today announced the signing of a major R12million, four-year sponsorship agreement for bowls.
In terms of the deal, the Private Banking Services company will generate over R3million a year for South Africa’s 40 000 bowlers at Club, District and National levels.
As the largest sponsor of Bowls at all levels of the sport, Warwick will take over sponsorship of the country’s premier national bowling events – the National Masters, and the Men’s and Women’s Nationals.
Announcing the agreement, Bowls South Africa President Piet Breitenbach said: It is largest sponsorship agreement concluded by a non-professional sport in South Africa. Warwick has been a great supporter of our clubs over the years. This new deal makes them not only the largest sponsor of our sport at club level, but now also at the National level. We are delighted to be working with them and thank them for their support.
Warwick offers Private Banking Services in the private client market and has several thousand bowlers as clients. The company currently has five offices operating across South Africa.
Explained Warwick’s CEO, Ian Kilbride: Warwick is proud to sponsor bowls, as well as a number of other sports including football, cricket, tennis and croquet.
Our involvement with the bowlers of South Africa is a thank you to them for the support they have given our financial products and services over the past seven years. It is also our endorsement of Bowls as a sport and a belief in where we believe the leadership is taking the 40 000 playing and social members over the next four years.
Our contribution is worth R12m over the next four years and gives hope to other grass root sports that support is available if a close long term working relationship can be established with suitable sponsors.
